Did you ever wake up in the morning and realize that something was not quite right? Kelli, a woman in Prince Rupert, British Columbia woke up and as she was chasing the cobwebs away, she heard an unusual sound. Kelli then realized she was not alone.
The sound wasn’t threatening at all, it was the mewing of a tiny kitten. As this sleepy woman searched around the house, looking from one corner to another, the kitten just kept crying in the background. She was trying to find where the noise was coming from, but the little feline was elusive.
It wasn’t until she went outside that she was able to find where he was hiding. It turns out he was under her own home!
Kelli said that she could hear the kitten crying but couldn’t figure out where the sound was coming from. She searched the house from top to bottom and the mewing just became more desperate. Finally, she went outside and found him under the house.
Imagine how frightened Kelli became when the kitten stopped crying before she found him. She was afraid that she was too late and when she did find him, he looked as if that may have been the case.
“When I found him I couldn’t tell if he was alive. I started to feel panicked once I realized that he wasn’t meowing anymore. So I brought him straight to the vet. They said he was less than a week old and had been abandoned by his mother.”
Kelli had never been one to take in motherless kittens but she jumped in with both feet. It took quite a few sleepless nights for Oscar (the name of her furry friend) to settle in. He was so tiny, she had to feed him with a syringe and then he graduated to a bottle. As he began to gain weight, she realized that Oscar had turned the corner. She is happy that she doesn’t have to wake up every two hours to feed him but she admits that she misses him being so tiny.
Oscar is a tuxedo kitten and he grew into a very loving and beautiful boy. She says he has a lot of spunk and likes to play the boss around the house. When nobody is looking, however, she says Oscar curls up in her lap and enjoys some snuggle time.
Oddly enough, there was another kitten that was found under a home in her area about eight months later. That kitten, Isabel, was destined to become a companion for Oscar. She was timid at first but she warmed up to the family quickly.
Oscar wasn’t comfortable with sharing his mom at first but before long, he and Isabel were inseparable. They would play and snuggle together and were often seen running around the house.
Today, Oscar is two years old and Kelli still loves telling the story. She will never forget the day that she found him under the home and is glad that she got to him just in time. One thing is certain, she loves her cat tremendously.
Kelli obviously has a lot of love because she took in two kittens that had been tossed aside and gave them a loving home. The three of them make a wonderful family, as you can see in this video.
