Being raised as the only kid, Nicole Renae frequently was a bit lonely in her earlier days. However, all of that improved on her 10th birthday. That year, Nicole’s grandma amazed her with a lovely gray pup that she called Chloe.
Right from the beginning, the duo was inseparable.
Over the following 4 years alongside each other, Nicole and Chloe’s relationship became stronger every day. All the affection that Nicole would give, the adorable pooch would give back even more.
“She was such a sweet dog,” Nicole shared. “She’d lick your face forever if you didn’t stop her.”
Unfortunately, however, Nicole and Chloe’s time spent together was reduced.
Four years later, her dad obtained another job operating from home — though it included a heartbreaking clause. The place was required to be similar to an office, without audible disruptions.
“He was told we couldn’t have any pets. Chloe was very happy,” Nicole stated. “We had no choice. I was just a kid, so I obviously didn’t have any choice in the matter. It was heartbreaking. I didn’t want to get rid of my dog.”
Having no better choice, Nicole and her relatives took Chloe to their nearest humane society. They were positive that good people would adopt the pup care for her, though saying farewell wasn’t simple.
Regardless that Chloe was not anymore part of her life, she in no way abandoned Nicole’s heart: “As the years went on, I always thought about her. I once called the humane society to try to find out what happened to her, but they couldn’t tell me anything. So, I never knew.”
Over time, Nicole became an adult, got married and had a baby of her own — but something was still missing in her life.
Being aware of the happiness that having a puppy had brought her as a child, Nicole desired to offer the same thing to her little girl. She’d at first considered adopting a new puppy — but then she saw a post on Facebook regarding an elderly dog in need of a forever home.
“I saw the picture of the dog and thought, ‘That dog looks kind of familiar.’ Then I read the name — it was Chloe. The same spelling as my old dog,” Nicole shared. “I thought that was such a coincidence.”
This is when Nicole agreed to take on the pooch herself — not knowing so far, clearly, that they were previously very good friends.
When she got together with her “new” dog, Nicole was hit with an uncanny sensation.
“She just ran up to me and started licking my face,” she stated. “As the day went on, all these characteristics just reminded me of my old dog.”
Chloe, it appears, recognized her old friend straight away — and quickly Nicole would be certain of it as well.
“She just kept hugging me. I was crying — it reminded me so much of my Chloe,” Nicole explained. “I never thought I’d see my dog again, but I just knew in my heart that it was her.”
Nicole had seen Chloe 8 years ago for the last time. So it’s clear to understand why the belief that this was the very same dog seemed really unlikely. And Nicole’s family thought she was crazy to think that.
And then Nicole’s mother learned that they may possibly prove their belief. Their Chloe was micro-chipped when she was a puppy, so she called their former vet’s clinic to obtain her ID number. After that, they went to a different vet to scan this Chloe. She had a microchip as well — and needless to say:
“The numbers were an exact match. It was her. I literally felt like I’d won the lottery. It was just the best feeling. I thought I’d never see her again.”
Soon after, Nicole found out that Chloe had been adopted by an elderly couple right after being given in. She’d resided comfortably with them for quite a while until they passed away. The pup was adopted yet again by new people, but they were unable to maintain her.
Back together with her childhood closest friend, Chloe was at last happy.
Chloe recently turned 11, but remains as healthful and active as when she was a puppy. Nicole and Chloe have plenty of catching up to do, and lots of new happy moments to live. So they’re starting exactly where they left off many years ago — just that this occasion, not anything will separate them.
“She’s made herself right at home,” Nicole shared. “Chloe is happy. I think she knows now that she’ll be with me forever.”
