The love of a mother knows no boundaries, and this is certainly accurate for a stray cat mamma known as Tala.
One evening last August, a guy named Vincent from Santa Ana, California, was chilling at home when he unexpectedly spotted an intruder inside. But fortunately, it wasn’t someone very menacing.
Staring at him was a youthful female kitty, who had apparently sneaked into the house via the doggie door that his dog used to get out into the backyard.
Realizing how sociable the kitty was, Vincent thought to keep her until he could locate her owners.
What he didn’t know is that the cat came with a surprise.
Moments after, Tala went outside again using the doggie door, and immediately came back with a little kitten. She got the kitten comfortable — after which she went outside again to get one more inside.
To maintain the family cozy for the night, Vincent arranged a box with a few towels inside, and then asked for assistance to nearby animal rescue organizations on Facebook. The kitties simply kept coming.
“By the time he went to bed that night, she had brought three kittens into the house,” Jacqueline Santiago, member of Friends For Life Rescue Network, shared. “When he woke up the next morning, there were five total.”
Vincent was happy to take care of the family of 6, however, the full house was unexpected for his Chihuahua, who usually is the single one to make use of the doggie entry.
Santiago assisted Vincent in arranging a nearby foster for Tala and her kittens, which required a few days. The kittens were merely four weeks old at that moment, so they were vaccinated and cared for fleas after their days on the street.
Since Tala was very at ease around humans and pooches, Santiago believed she used to be someone’s pet in the past. But a scan revealed she didn’t have any microchip.
“She’s an amazing little girl and loves chin scratches,” Santiago shared.
Even though each one of Tala’s babies have found families, Tala continues to wait at her foster home for a permanent home of her own.
“She’s such a sweet cat,” Santiago said. “She absolutely loves her foster dad — she stares at him with these huge loving eyes. I think she really likes men, since she originally went into Vincent’s house.”
