Recently, a wildlife hospital in the UK had a particularly striking patient. Some people saw this orange bird in a ditch, unable to fly. They thought it was a tropical bird and worried about it, so they took it to the Tiggywinkles animal hospital to make sure it was okay. It turned out that the bird was neither exotic nor tropical: it was just a curious seagull that somehow ended up covered in curry.

“This is one of the weirdest accidents we’ve seen in a long time!”
“This orange seagull was rescued by some friendly people who saw it by the A41 road. When they called to say they had picked up an orange bird, we didn’t know what to expect, and we never would have guessed this,” the hospital posted on its Facebook page.
“Somehow I had ended up covered in curry or turmeric.”
As reported by the vet, it seems that the curry was in the poor bird’s feathers, which prevented it from flying well. “We have no idea how it got into this trouble, but fortunately, apart from the color and the strong smell, it was healthy.”

“Our veterinary team bravely managed to bathe the seagull (whom we call Vinny, after the Vidaloo curry) to clean its feathers well. All of them were soaked in curry water, but in the end they managed to leave it clean”. Vinny looks great, despite its anger at being bathed.
“It is now much better and should be ready for release very soon.”
“As we say, we never know what we’re going to get. Thank you very much to the lovely people who stopped to rescue it,” added the hospital staff. After all, we’re glad Vinny’s okay and hopefully he won’t end up covered in curry and other spices again.
