Award-winning photographer Ian McAllister has been studying a rare population of sea wolves that have lived off the wild Pacific coast of British Columbia for nearly two decades. “We know from exhaustive DNA studies that these wolves are genetically distinct from their continental kin,” McAllister shared.
“They are behaviourally distinct, swimming from island to island and preying on sea animals. They are also morphologically distinct — they are smaller in size and physically different from their mainland counterparts,” he said. Ian has photographed these wolves through the years in all their majestic nature and the photographs are stunning!
