Gabi was 4 years old at the time she started to give food to the crows around her home.
It all began accidentally. The young girl was somewhat prone to dropping food, and any time a crumb dropped from her hands when she was outside, it would be instantly grabbed by a crow.
The crows became aware that where there was Gabi, there was food. They quickly began to follow her to school, and in the way she would feed them from her abundant lunch.
Shortly, crows lined up to wait for Gabi’s bus, expecting she could have some delicious treats for them.
Rather than dropping the random piece of food, she started to provide for the birds every day, filling the birdbath with water and putting nuts on feeding platforms in their back garden.
As the crows were done with their food, little ornaments started to show up on their feeding platform – trinkets only big enough to be transported in a bird’s mouth.
She retains her gifts meticulously stored, labelled with the date and sorted by which is her most liked. They often vary from zips, buttons and Lego parts to bolts and stones.
