You can find about 33 species of pinnipeds worldwide nowadays, the majority of which are commonly referred to as seals. Their size varies greatly, from the giant southern elephant seal, which can exceed the weight of a truck, to the somewhat thin Baikal seal, which weighs 100 pounds.
While there are numerous variations among the species, they also share some resemblances. For instance, all seals have fin-shaped legs. They are all in the category of marine mammals that are semi-aquatic. But they all have a sense of humor.
