When a poor hedgehog was found trapped in a ball of clay and taken to the Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital, the little thing was very defensive and would barely let his rescuers near him. The small animal had an unfortunate encounter with an aggressive dog, which made him go into a defensive ball position but the dog just rolled him into wet clay.
“He was barely recognizable when he came in, but we could see he was just about breathing (goodness knows how),” the Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital shared online. The staff went on to clean up the hedgehog, but he wasn’t having it and was probably still nervous from the encounter. “We have got the worst of the clay off but will leave him quietly overnight now and clean off some more in the morning as he became a little cold and VERY angry.”
Luckily, and after completely cleaning him up, the little hedgehog was finally feeling better and allowed his rescuers to look after him, which eventually led up to releasing him back into the wild.
