Ellen Jewett sculptures are an example of how much an artist can achieve combining a powerful imagination with the use of natural resources, non-toxic materials, and exploring unconventional methods of work. Dogs, turtles, octopus, deer, birds, and all kinds of animals are created by Ellen with a delicate figure, sometimes grotesque, sometimes surreal, but always so authentic that you would like they were alive.
About the Artist
Ellen Jewett was born in Markham Ontario. She started building 3D figures naturally at an early age. In 2007 Ellen finished her post secondary honors degree in Anthropology and Fine Art at McMaster University.
Currently Ellen’s work is accomplishing an eye-catching online presence and is showcased in public and private collections globally. She is passionately extending her studio practice, permanently testing and fulfilling the demand of her time and art work.
In her extra time Ellen likes hiking with her friends and dogs, kayaking, climbing, searching for wild plants and mushrooms, organic gardening, ‘up-cycling’ salvaged objects, having coffee and feeding little birds. As her art draws higher worldwide audience she looks ahead to the chance to travel just like her work does.
