Daisy is a boxer-pit bull mix dog who was abandoned in a park in Bloomington, Indiana and found in the very same spot by someone who was walking by. Seeing the dog was all alone, the person called the local sheriff’s office and once Officer Jeff Ripley showed up, the story took an entire different turn.
Rosie Ahlberg, Jeff’s fiancé who’s also a regular volunteer at the City of Bloomington Animal Care and Control shelter got the pooch on the backseat and after finding out the shelter was closed for the day, they decided to have Daisy home for a night, as they waited to get her the medical help she needed. The next day, they took her to the vet and the poor dog was found to have several injuries that require surgery as well as trauma due to emotional abuse. Jeff and Rosie tracked down Daisy’s owners and they said they wanted nothing to do with her, so the cop and his fiancé decided to adopt her.
The couple already had two rescue cats and a rescue dog, but they all immediately got along with Daisy and after a little while in her new loving home, she seems to be loosening up and being less scared, as they wait for the time to get Daisy the surgery she needs to make a full recovery.
