Hannah Shaw, a Philadelphia resident found her life upturned upon saving a helpless kitten for the first time.
She came up against numerous difficulties in caring for her tiny companion as suitable tools and guidance were scarce.
After consulting with a number of shelter volunteers and vets, she remained at a loss for information.
She had the following to say about the situation:
“I discovered that there were very few resources for kittens.
I really had to make my own path to help this kitten.”
Her life began to lead her in the direction of nationwide kitten assistance as she came into contact with more felines in need mere weeks after her first rescue.
Although she chose to keep her first rescued kitten and a second cat whom she named Eloise after adopting her four years later, cats in need would not stop crossing her path.
One particularly challenging case was a kitten whom she named Zeke who was little more than a couple days old when she found him in a friend’s driveway.
The care he required to survive was more than she knew how to give at the time, but she tried anyway, going so far as to bring him to her school to ensure he was fed on time.
Zeke’s life was saved and she successfully found him a home once he was old enough.
Hannah has since dedicated her life to saving kittens in need through her web resource, “Kitten Lady.”
