Officer Mike Cardin was sent on behalf of the Lakeland Police Department right at the beginning of his shift to rescue a stray kitten that was, apparently, stuck in the middle of a busy road. After bringing the little fur ball into the police station, Cardin made the kitten a little box so she could rest in it and by the end of his shift, when Sergeant Brian Wallace started his, things took a turn.
The Sergeant decided to keep the kitten in his lap as they had to wait until the morning to call animal control. The kitten didn’t seem to mind whatsoever, and the more time went by, the more she warmed up to Wallace and liked hanging out with him. By the time the Sergeant had to go on patrol, he decided to take the kitten with him, and she was perfectly fine with that.
“That little face… I was done,” Wallace shared, so he decided to be the one to adopt the kitten, whom he named Kelsey. She’s now adapting to the comforts of home-living, but seems quite happy with her new dad! “It’s almost like she realizes she was given a decent chance at surviving after being feet away from heavy traffic and on her own at so young.”
