Kimberly Koster and her husband Kevin have volunteered several times to foster dogs for the Player for Pits organization. So when they found a 10-year-old pit bull chained up to a fence in Chicago, they knew they had to help. The dog, which they named Meatball, had deep cuts in his ears, his head was swollen and had several other injuries on his body. This pooch had a rough life, it seemed, and they wanted to make sure he got better.
Initially, they were just a foster family to Meatball but as time passed and he recovered, they realized they just couldn’t let him go. Not only did they love him but the pit bull had no interest in other humans that weren’t the Kosters. “I think Kevin and I swooped in at the perfect time to show him the good in life and to show him that life is worth living,” shared Kimberly.
They rescued Meatball a year ago and they recently threw a party to celebrate his “first” birthday as a loved, free and healthy dog. Meatball has now the life he always deserved, loving parents and 3 other dog siblings whom he loves to play with.
