Everyone could use a hand to hold at times, but for this cat, comfort is always a hands-on task.
Jamie is an old cat whose owner had to let him go after 13 years of friendship once she moved to a nursing home.
Entrusted to the RSPCA in Australia, this old cat got a second chance to enjoy the company of a human mom.
He was adopted by Sarah Dempsey, a young woman looking for a pet to keep her company.
Had it not been for Sarah, this old cat might not have been adopted at all due to his age.
Even Sarah was surprised when she met Jamie, but he won her over in no time.
“When I first met him, he was asleep, but woke up as I bent down to look at him. He clearly wanted some pats so I stuck my hand through the slot of the enclosure and he head-bumped me and purred. Later the staff let him out to see how he was with me and he was so affectionate. I knew he’d rescue me from feeling alone, and I’d do the same for him.”
Jamie’s health was not the best when he first arrived at the RSPCA.
He had cat flu, bad teeth and some kidney troubles, but once his teeth were removed and his illnesses treated, he was ready to meet new people; just in time for Sarah.
He adapted immediately to his new home and took to Sarah quite affectionately.
In fact, on the first day, he wouldn’t sleep without holding her hand!
“If I let go he wakes up, meows, and claws my hand back to him. I think we’ve bonded already.”
It’s clear that this old kitty has no intention of leaving his loving new owner.
