Huge Great Dane Weighs More Than You Think
Balthazar, the Great Dane, lives a pretty relaxing life with his five humans in Gedling, Nottingham. He plays with the three children, frolics with his three feline friends and naps on his specialty bed. It is a life that many dogs would envy. From the onset of his life, everyone knew that he would be a big dog, but while at a veterinary appointment that would weigh Balthazar for medicine, he shocked everyone! The huge Great Dane tipped the scales at 216 lbs. That is around the same weight as a baby elephant, and 1/5 the weight of a grand piano!
Huge Great Dane and Food
Measuring 7ft from nose to tail, Balthazar needs special dog beds ordered from the internet to accommodate is massive size. He stands 3′ 3″ from paw to should and eats over $140 of food every month. Balthazar isn’t the largest dog in Britain, but experts believe he is definitely the heaviest. His owners Vinnie and Dixie Monte-Irvine say that he loves hanging out in the kitchen, which makes cooking time a little congested.
This gentle giant is five years old and initially went to the vets because of a sore leg but wowed the staff and his owners when he stepped on the scale. “He is a big dog but isn’t a fat dog though,” said owner Vinnie. We can only say, thank goodness he has his own bed!
