Little Blossom came into the Westie & Scottie Rescue Houston after she was abandoned by her previous owners. She’s a beautiful 3-year-old dog who was dealing with heartworm disease and was pregnant with her first litter of puppies. Given her state, she couldn’t be treated right away. Maggie Escriva decided to foster little Blossom until she was treated and ready for adoption.
Little Blossom gave birth to three puppies: Bluebell, Begonia and Buttercup. Unfortunately, Bluebell and Begonia passed due to an infection they developed before being born. This shattered Blossom’s heart to pieces, leaving her so depressed that even Maggie didn’t know what to do to help the beautiful fur ball. Fortunately, Maggie learned about a litter of 8 puppies who’d been abandoned and were super tiny and decided to try and have Blossom foster them.
As soon as little Blossom saw the puppies, Maggie shares, she “climbed into the bed and started cleaning and feeding them”. Blossom’s heart was then full of love again and she was able to heal from her loss, while helping the tiny puppies. All the pups grew up healthy and got adopted into loving permanent homes. Blossom received treatment for her disease. We can definitely call this a happy ending!

Tomorrow marks one week since Reed, Ash, Forest, Meadow, Petal, and Fern joined Buttercup in Blossom's little garden! As you can see from this video when they met, they were meant to be hers. We are grateful to everyone involved in rescuing this little family so they will be safe, warm, and dry in the rainy week ahead. 🌺🐾🌼🐾❤️
